Cool pictures and videos of the Eyjafjallajökull Norway volcano eruption in April 2010. It's caused problems with flights as ash from the volcanic eruption in Iceland moves south. The volcano eruption has sparked a travel tourist boom in Norway...if you can get there! Geologists are unsure how much longer the Iceland eruption might last. "I hope the eruption continues for a while, because it is very good for business," Ingi Thor Jakobsson, manager of the nearby Hotel Ranga.

Located in the U.A.E. capital of Abu Dhabi, the Jebel Hafeet Mountain Road wraps its way around the Jebel Hafeet Mountain, the second highest peak in the U.A.E. The road offers brave drivers 60 corners over 7.3 miles of perfectly paved asphalt while offering a beautiful view of the desert below. The road scales the mountain and ends at a parking lot with only a hotel and a palace belonging to the country's rulers. At 36,200 foot, the trench was created by ocean-to-ocean subduction, a phenomena in which a plate topped by oceanic crust is subducted beneath another plate topped by oceanic crust. As you can guess, Mariana Trench is home to some very cool and very weird looking creatures as these pictures show...

Located just east of the 14 Mariana Islands (11″21′ North latitude and 142″ 12′ East longitude ) near Japan is Mariana Trench and is the deepest part of the earth’s oceans. It is the deepest location on Earth in fact.

This picture shows Mariana Trench (or Marianas Trench) reaches a maximum depth of about 11,033 metres or 36,200ft. If you think that Mount Everest is 8,848 metres high then you can see how deep this is!

There are some seriously cool buildings around the world. Look at these bizarre building pictures.

The Dancing House
Also nicknamed “The Drunk House”, is a downtown office building in Prague, in the Czech Republic, and was designed by Czech architect Frank Gehry. Notable features include a French restaurant on the roof, with wonderful views of the city.

Golden Pyramid House
Wadsworth, Illinois. This odd structure is apparently a privately-owned residence, although at one time it may have been host to tours and even have operated a gift shop. However, these days the large front gate is forebodingly shut.

Situated in Tokyo, Japan. Designed by Kisho Kurokawa, it is the world’s first example of capsule architecture, in which prefabricated modules/capsules were designed to be slotted into and around the main shaft of the building. Each capsule is able to function as an entirely separate office or living space, with capsules being able to connect to one another.

Habitat 67
Situated in Montreal, Canada. This was created by architect Moshe Safdie, and was supposed to give the illusion of many different private/separate houses, but with the economic practicality of modern-day apartment complex construction. Another example of “modular” architecture, the aim was to use interlocking concrete “modules” in order to create affordable and stylish private housing. Ironically, due to the architectural fame of Habitat 67, the units are nowadays quite expensive.

The Robot Building
Located in the Sathorn district of Bangkok, Thailand. This strange construction actually houses the United Overseas Bank’s Bangkok headquarters. Designed by architect Sumet Jumsai to emphasize the increasing usage of computers in modern-day banking.

The Crooked House
Located in Sopot, Poland. Inspired by various fairytale drawings and built by Polish architects Szotyńscy Zaleski, this strange-looking building actually houses a multitude of bars, cafes, and shops. However, I imagine most of the visual appeal is offered from the outside, rather than within.
The Longaberger Company/The Basket Building
This building in Ohio is home to the headquarters of a top American basket manufacturer, and is built to resemble one of their best-selling products, a basket. Originally, the founder – Dave Longaberger – wanted each company building to be basket-shaped, however his wishes we not to be granted, as after his death, his daughters vetoed plans to build more basket buildings.
Steel House
Designed and built by artist Robert Bruno, and situated in Lubbock, Texas. Born from an idea that Bruno had upon completing a steel sculpture, he wondered what it would be like if he could walk through it. Weighing in at 110 tons of steel, it was constructed by welding steel plates onto a pre-built dome-like centre structure.
Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Building
Branson, Missouri. In order to reflect the 8.0 scale earthquake that happened at New Madrid, MO in 1812, this was purposely built so that it looked like it had barely made it through that earthquake. It’s currently home to the Branson outlet of the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not museums.

The Mushroom/Tree house
Designed by architect – and also professor of Architecture at the University of Cincinnati – Terry Brown. Brown was also helped with its construction by his university students, as part of an ongoing project. In 2006, it was announced that the house was for sale for roughly $400,000.

Not sure what the home insurance price would cost on these buildings!

Cool pictures of insects close up glistening in the early morning with dew gathering on their sleeping bodies. Photographed in extreme close-up, one moth appears to be totally encrusted in diamonds as it rests on a twig.

Stunning: Droplets of water bead on the head of this blue dragonfly as it slumbers on a leaf

Dragonflies, flies and beetles also take on an unearthly quality as the water droplets form on them. These remarkable photographs were taken by physiotherapist Miroslaw Swietek at around 3am in the forest next to his home. Using a torch, the 37-year-old amateur photographer hunts out the motionless bugs in the darkness before setting up his camera and flash just millimetres from them.

Bejewelled: This month looks like it has been encrusted in diamonds as it rests on a twig.

Mr Swietek said: 'I took up photography as a relaxing hobby two and a half years ago and I particularly like taking pictures of insects and lizards. 'I photograph them in their natural environment in the forest next to my village.'They all are covered in dew because I go to the forest in the morning at around 3am. 'At 3am to 4am insects are sleepy and taking photos of them is easy, but it is very difficult to find them.

'You must be very fast taking the photos because the dew quickly disappears. 'It is very satisfying getting a good shot of an insect which I have had to hunt out. 'I have books which help my identify insects but because they are all covered in dew I find it almost impossible to know which types they are.'

Although insects do not 'sleep' in the same sense as humans, they enter a state of torpor where they are virtually immobile and much less sensitive to external stimuli. Mr Swietek lives with his wife and teenage son in Jaroszow, a village in Poland around 30 miles from the city of Wroclaw.

Villa La Leopolda - $500m
Formerly the home of Bill Gates, but now belonging to really rather rich Roman Abramovich, the Villa La Leopolda in Nice, France would set you back roughly £250,000,000 ($1/2 a billion).

Its 10 acres of lush, garden-filled grounds require an astounding 50 gardeners to look after it along with the best home insurance that money can buy.

Mikhail Prokhorov, Russia’s richest man had to pull out on the much reported deal to purchase Villa Leopolda, a $750 million estate in Côte d’Azur, the South of France after seeing a good portion of his amassed fortune lost in the current global recession.

The much reported sale was widely speculated over around August last year and now it seems that all the excitement has been for nothing. But the saga continues as the current owners of the villa simply refuse to hand Prokhorov back his initial deposit of €44 million.

Even though his lawyers are seeking a refund, they might be out of luck since the French law states that purchasers lose their deposits if they pull out after the sales agreement has been signed.

Since having set new property records with this deal last summer, the French Riviera went nuts with the news leaving many property owners excited at the prospects of selling their own nearby homes.
However, much has changed since then and the latest development in the Villa Leopolda story clearly indicate that even billionaires suffer from the current financial situation, leaving them with millions of dollars in losses.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the wealth magnate denies all the stories as gossip saying that Prokhorov is refusing to do any business unless the French authorities apologizes to him for accusing him of procuring prostitutes for a party in 2007.

Ira Rennert House, New York - $170m
The billionaire found of the Renco Group, Ira Rennert, owns a place in Sagaponack, New York, and at 63 acres of grounds, is considered by many to be the largest residential compound in the whole of America.

The house itself has 29 bedrooms, 39 bathrooms, as well as the usual gigantic dining room, sport courts and bowling alley and contents insurance to cover it all. The property is valued at roughly $170,000,000-180,000,000.

No list is complete without a bit of Russian flavour.

Hillandale, Stamford, Connecticut - $95m

The ranch includes a massive 3,100 acres of land. This luxury property is much more than a working ranch. The main house alone is 13,800 square feet and has four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

Further, outlying guest cabins and lodges can host up to 50 people and bring the total interior space up to 77,000 square feet.

In addition, there’s a 12,000-square-foot spa and aquatic centre. Just the right thing to soak your weary feet at the end of a long working day. That is if you can part with $88 million.

All the above homes must have absolutely massive bills just to keep them in running order. Just imagine the quotes on home insurance for these homes yet alone the energy bills, electricity and water!

Carrots get their orange colour from a plant chemical called betacarotene, which reduces the risk of developing cataracts. The chemical also protects against macular degeneration an age-related sight problem that affects one in four over-65s. It is the most common cause of blindness in Britain. But popping a betacarotene pill doesnt have the same effect, say scientists at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore

THE gnarled folds of a walnut mimic the appearance of a human brain - and provide a clue to the benefits. Walnuts are the only nuts which contain significant amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. They may also help head off dementia. An American study found that walnut extract broke down the protein-based plaques associated with Alzheimers disease. Researchers at Tufts University in Boston found walnuts reversed some signs of brain ageing in rats. Dr James Joseph, who headed the study, said walnuts also appear to enhance signalling within the brain and encourage new messaging links between brain cells.

A TOMATO is red and usually has four chambers, just like our heart. Tomatoes are also a great source of lycopene, a plant chemical that reduces the risk of heart disease and several cancers. The Womens Health Study ” an American research programme which tracks the health of 40,000 women ” found women with the highest blood levels of lycopene had 30 per cent less heart disease than women who had very little lycopene. Lab experiments have also shown that lycopene helps counter the effect of unhealthy LDL cholesterol. One Canadian study, published in the journal Experimental Biology and Medicine, said there was œconvincing vidence that lycopene prevented coronary heart disease.
